4.09 Disposal of Excess Spoil and underground Levelopment Waste
There was a very small pile of shaley material from mine development waste on
the bench. This pile is less than 1 truckload, storage of which has been approved.
4.I2 Slides and Other Damage
On February 25, 1982, Blue Ribbon reported small slides at the southern edge
of the mine bench and the face-up highwall above the diversion. During the inspection,
it was noted that the operator had reestablished the berm at the bench outslope and
was considering remedial action at the face-up. The operator should consider leaving
the remaining sloughed material from the highwall as is until a long-term solution to
the problem is resolved during the permit application process.
5.02.4 Availabilitu of Records
The required NPDES monitoring reports are held on-site in the mine office.
Blue Ribbon Coal Company should be aware that all monitoring records and reports must
be on file for public use in the area of mining (5.02.4(1)). The location of this file
will be determined through the permitting process.
