The
purpose of the measurements was to identify any cumulative impacts of
mining on Trout Creek, and the effect of mine pumping on Fish Creek. All
the measurements were made within a one and a quarter hour period in
order to provide a "snapshot" of impacts occurring at that time.
Results of Sampling - All pH values were near 8.5. The standard
conductivity values indicate coal mines were not causing Trout Creek to
exceed the Division's 1,000 mmhos/cm material damage suspect level for
irrigation water in northwest Colorado. The 1500 mmhos/cm suspect level
for Fish Creek also was not exceeded, The conductivity values of the
samples are shown on the map below.
Field conductivity values in mmhos/cm are
shown in call-out boxes at the 8 sample
locations
1'al~ a R ivl;r
Milne
1360(below c
pumping) 403 ~-
347
x
se~eca n ~tC~
Mx e 8 ,~ySH
307
ss2 (,iow ~i~i(~pin(k \~t~~k
2.9 cfs, strove ,
mine pumping) Poidel C
Mine
308
`v~~~~~~ 'v~C~ ~°
~~ac ``~ .
4730 }~tg,
(mine
pumping at
0.30 efs) ~ 9 29
4
