Groundwater wells GW-N50, GW-N51 and
GWN-52 are located within the northeastern portion of the permit boundary. The PVC pipes were stable, in good
condition and the caps were observed on top of the wells.

RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Reclamation on the following areas is for the areas reclaimed to the post-mining land use of dryland pastures.
These pastures are not irrigated. During the inspection, much of the vegetation on these areas dried out during the
summer season.
Dryland Pasture NHN-001 is located in the north and northeastern portion of the permit area. NHN-001 is 3.7
acres in size. The reclamation parcel was covered with vegetation and stable. There were no erosional features
were noted.
Dryland Pasture NHN-002 is located northeast between NHN-001 and NHN-003. NHN-002 is 2.7 acres. NHN-
002 was stable with vegetative cover. No indications of erosional features were noted.
Dryland Pasture NHN-003 is located to the north of NHN-004 and is 20.6 acres in size. The reclamation parcel
was covered with vegetation and was stable. There were no erosional features identified.
The NHN-005 Dryland Pasture is located to the east of NHN-004 NHN-005 consists of 3.9 acres. The parcel
was stable. There was vegetation cover and no erosional features or areas of differential settling were observed.
Dryland Pasture NHN-006 is located to the south/southeast of NHN-004. NHN-006 is 0.6 acres in size. The
reclamation was and had vegetative cover. There were no erosional features observed. The silt fences located on
NHN-006 south of NHN-004 were in good condition. The silt fences help control the irrigation runoff from NHN-
004. The vegetation in this location was stable green and dense. There were no erosional features observed from
the runoff.
Dryland Pasture NHN-007 encompasses the western, southern and eastern edges of the New Horizon North
Mine’s permit area. (Photos 3 through 8) NHN-007 is 34.0 acres of land. Vegetation on NHN-007 had dried out
for the year. No indications of erosional features or differential settling were observed.
NHN-004 is the only portion of the mine site reclaimed to the post-mining land use of an irrigated pasture.
The irrigated pasture consists of 88 acres of land. The pasture is set up with a center pivot irrigation system. The
irrigation system was observed to be active at the time of the inspection (Photo 8). The reclamation parcel was
stable with vegetative cover (Photos 9 and 10). No erosional features were identified. In the northwest section, a
small portion of reclamation had slight differential settling identified by the landowner. The area is near the
boundary between the irrigated pasture and the dryland pasture NHN-003. This location will be addressed by
placing additional topsoil from the Progresso Topsoil Stockpile #1 on this location. The slight depression in the
ground was identified by the change in the color of the vegetation. There was no evidence that the settling had
increased since the previous complete inspection by the Division.
