RPM,Inc.,25049 E.Alder Dr.,Aurora,CO 80016 Phone:(303)854-7499 Email:hlhumphries2@comcast.net
3.1.4 Public use:
The mine site is private land owned by Arapaho Ranch Corp., (Benjamin Stapleton III). The
landowner has no intent to allow public use of the land during mining or site reclamation.
3.1.5 Reclamation Measures—Materials Handling:
(1) Grading:
Excavation will occur on the top of the plateau. Therefore, little site grading will be
needed. However, any remaining mine slopes will be graded/backfilled to 3H:1V or less.
Also, please see 3.1.5(3) below.
(2) Backfilling:
We do not expect there will be significant backfilling. However, as stated above, all final
slopes will be graded/backfilled to 3H:1 V or less. For example, where the Fo soil unit
mining area meets CyF soil unit mining area, may need grading. The Fo side where the two
units meet will be backfilled and graded to make a smooth transition between the two
different mining depths.
(3) All grading shall be done in a manner to control erosion and siltation of the
affected lands, to protect areas outside the affected land from slides and other
damage:
Since this is the removal of the top of a hill, the final topography will be fairly flat. Soil
unit Ged will be left as a hill between the two soils units which will be mined, Fo and CyF.
Some of the material in soils unit Ged will be graded over Cyf and may be needed for Fo.
The borrow area on soil unit GeD will be graded to 3H:1 or less and will be seed and
mulched. Most soil from runoff events from Ged will be retained by the flat area of CyF
and Fo. Therefore, the potential for off-site slope failure or erosion should be minimal.
We propose to final grade the excavated areas as follows:
• Soils Unit Extraction Area CyF:
➢ The extraction area within soils unit CyF will daylight to the southwest, where
the plateau drops off the Arapaho Creek.
➢ The northeast side to the CyF mined area will adjoin two soils units, Fo and
GeD.
21
