<br /> Bt3 --29 to 38 inches; light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4) extremely stony coarse sandy loam,
<br /> yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable,
<br /> slightly sticky, slightly plastic; 30 percent gravel, 20 percent cobble, 15 percent stone; clear

<br /> C -- 38 to 60 inches; brownish yellow (10YR 6/6)very cobbly coarse sandy loam, dark yellowish

<br /> percent stone; neutral (pH 6.8).
<br /> Soil depth to bedrock is greater than 40 inches. The reaction of the soil is medium acid to
<br /> neutral.
<br /> The A horizon has hue of 10YR, value of 3 to 5 dry, and 2 or 3 moist, and chroma of 2 to 3. The
<br /> texture of the fine earth fraction is sandy loam or loam. The soil has 10 to 40 percent rock
<br /> fragments.
<br /> The Bt horizon has hue of 7.5YR or 10YR, value of 4 to 6 dry, and 3 to 5 moist, and chroma of 4
<br /> to 6. The texture of the fine earth fraction is sandy loam, sandy clay loam, or clay loam. The soil
<br /> has 35 to 65 percent rock fragments.
<br /> The C horizon has hue of 10YR or 7.5YR, value of 3 to 6 dry, and 3 to 5 moist, and chroma of 3
<br /> to 6. The texture of the fine earth fraction is sandy loam or loamy sand. The soil has 35 to 70
<br /> percent rock fragments.
<br /> Scout family
<br /> The Scout series consists of very deep, somewhat excessively drained soils that formed in till,
<br /> colluvium, slope alluvium, and residuum from sandstone, conglomerate, basalt, quartzite, rhyolite,
<br /> andesite, and tuff. Scout soils are on mountain slopes, mesa summits, broad ridge tops, and spur
<br /> ridges and have slopes of 0 to 70 percent. Permeability is moderately rapid. The mean annual
<br /> precipitation is about 34 inches and the mean annual temperature is about 38 F.

<br /> A representative pedon of this soil is located in the NE 1/4, NE 1/4, sec. 19, T. 8 S., R. 76 W., in
<br /> Park County, Colorado. Taxonomic Class: loamy-skeletal, mixed Typic Cryochrepts.
<br /> Oi --2 to 1 inches; slightly decomposed litter consisting of leaves, twigs, and the remains of
<br /> understory plants.
<br /> Oe -- 1 to 0 inches; partially decomposed litter(duff).
<br /> A-- 0 to 4 inches; very dark gray (10YR 3/1)very gravelly loam, black (10YR 2/1) moist;
<br /> moderate fine and medium granular structure; soft, very friable, non-sticky, non-plastic; common
<br /> fine, medium, and coarse roots; many fine interstitial pores; 30 percent gravel, 5 percent cobble,
<br /> 5 percent stone; neutral (pH 6.6); clear smooth boundary.
<br /> Bw--4 to 22 inches; pale brown (10YR 6/3) very stony coarse sandy loam, brown (10YR 5/3)
