<br /> Reference Pedon:
<br /> A representative pedon of this soil occurs in map unit supporting curly sedge/Alpine clover plant
<br /> association on a 45 percent southeast facing backslope at 11,337 feet elevation located in the
<br /> NW 1/4, NW 1/4, sec. 35, T. 45 S., R. 76 W., in Summit County, Colorado:
<br /> Oi --2.5 to 1 inches; aspen leaf and twig litter.
<br /> Oe -- 1 to 0 inches; partially decomposed aspen leaf and twig litter.
<br /> Al -- 0 to 12 inches; dark brown (10YR 5/2)gravelly loam, very dark brown (10YR 3/2) moist;
<br /> weak very fine granular structure; soft, very friable, non-sticky, non-plastic; many fine and
<br /> very fine, few medium roots; many fine tubular pores; 15 percent subangular rock fragments;
<br /> neutral; clear wavy boundary.
<br /> A2 -- 12 to 23 inches; brown (10YR 5/3)very gravelly loam, dark brown (10YR 3/3) moist; weak
<br /> medium subangular blocky parting to moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, non-
<br /> sticky, non-plastic; many very fine, common fine and medium roots; many fine tubular pores;

<br /> yellowish brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist; moderate fine subangular blocky structure; slightly hard,
<br /> friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; common very fine, fine and medium roots; common fine
<br /> and medium tubular pores; 65 percent subangular rock fragments; slightly acid; gradual wavy
<br /> boundary.
<br /> Bw2 --41 to 60 inches; light yellowish brown (7.5YR 6/6) extremely flaggy sandy loam, yellowish
<br /> brown (5YR 4/3) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; soft, friable, non-sticky, non-
<br /> plastic; common medium and few very fine and fine roots; many fine tubular pores; 60
<br /> percent subangular rock fragments; neutral.
<br /> Quander family
<br /> The Quander series consist of very deep, well drained soils formed in slope alluvium and
<br /> colluvium derived from andesite, rhyolite, trachyte, breccia, or tuff. These soils are toeslopes,
<br /> footslopes, and backslopes of ridges and mountains. Slopes range from 5 to 65 percent. Mean
<br /> annual precipitation is about 20 inches and the mean annual temperature is about 38 degrees F.

<br /> A representative pedon of this soil is located in the NW 1/4, SW 1/4, sec. 10, T. 9 S., R. 80 W., in
<br /> Lake County, Colorado. Taxonomic Class: loamy-skeletal, mixed Argic Cryoborolls.

<br /> brown (10YR 3/2) moist; weak fine granular structure; slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky,
<br /> non-plastic; 10 percent cobble; slightly acid (pH 6.0); clear wavy boundary.
