Note: If unusually dry conditions exist at or during the execution of the project, or as directed by <br /> the PROJECT MANAGER, a twenty(20)pound fire extinguisher and a large round-pointed shovel <br /> with an overall length of at least forty-eight (48) inches will be required to be on site at all times. <br /> ITEM 3.0: Backfill Adit <br /> Backfill the adit in accordance with Standard Work Specification 2 using onsite fill material. The <br /> steel canopy, chain-link gate, and other debris shall be removed from the opening prior to <br /> backfilling. A cutting torch or demo saw may be required to properly remove steel canopy. The <br /> portal will then be excavated and the canopy reinstalled in the opening as a back form. Fill material <br /> will be placed against the back form and compacted to a minimum depth of twelve (12) feet or <br /> until the surface of the backfill intersects the surrounding ground surface. The sides of the opening <br /> shall be excavated and graded to a 1:1 slope or less. <br /> A pole fence will be constructed along any steep portions of the portal cut once backfilling is <br /> complete. Several sections of pole fence already constructed will be used first. Onsite material <br /> will be used if additional sections are required. Pole stock shall have a minimum diameter of four <br /> (4) inches or greater. Fasteners shall be a minimum of six (6) inches in length and be approved <br /> by PROJECT MANAGER before use. <br /> REVEGETATION REQUIREMENTS <br /> All areas disturbed during reclamation work and any other areas specified in these Special <br /> Conditions will be revegetated according to the Revegetation Specifications, SWS 20, in the <br /> General Bid Specifications 2009. CONTRACTOR shall provide commercial fertilizer. Seed will <br /> be supplied by DRMS. Mulch is not required for this project. <br /> Zone 5: High-Elevation Meadow, Coniferous Woodland/Forest&Aspen seed mix will be used on <br /> all disturbed areas. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment made for this bid item. Payment will be made based <br /> on the lump sum price in the Bid Schedule. The CONTRACTOR must estimate how much area <br /> will be disturbed during reclamation activities. The price bid shall include all costs for labor, <br /> materials, equipment, fasteners, revegetation efforts and all other items necessary and incidental <br /> to complete the tasks as described in Item 3.0. <br /> ITEM 4.0: Debris Removal <br /> There is a variety of mining related debris including hoses, lumber, pallets, buckets, steel and <br /> plastic pipes, posts and fencing material, steel and wood scrap, and other miscellaneous trash <br /> scattered around the site. These items must be collected and removed from the site and disposed <br /> of in a licensed landfill. All items for removal will be designated in the field by the PROJECT <br /> MANAGER. Up to five (5) cubic yards of consolidated debris will be removed from the project site. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment for this task. Payment for shall be for the lump sum <br /> bid price under Item 4.0 of the Bid Schedule. The lump sum bid shall include all costs for labor, <br /> equipment, disposal fees, and all others items necessary to complete the tasks as described in <br /> Item 4.0. Payment will be made upon completion of this task and approval from the PROJECT <br /> MANAGER. <br /> Page 8 of 9 <br />
