Item 10.0: Provide Additional Equipment Rental w/ Operator <br /> If required, this item is to provide mobilization and up to an additional eight (8) hours of <br /> equipment operation time with competent operator for a full-sized tracked excavator with a <br /> minimum flywheel horsepower (FHP) rating of 148 or greater (Caterpillar 320D or equivalent). <br /> The number of hours indicated above is estimated. It is impossible to determine in advance the <br /> actual number of hours that the equipment will be required to be used, or to guarantee that any <br /> additional equipment time will be necessary. <br /> "Operation" means time spent in performing work as well as time necessary for moving <br /> equipment around the work site when directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. However, <br /> "operation" does not include time spent in transporting the equipment to the initial work site, <br /> removing the equipment when all work has been completed, transporting the equipment away <br /> from and returning it to the work site in the event of a temporary or seasonal suspension of <br /> operation, maintenance of the equipment, any time during which the equipment is "bogged <br /> down" or otherwise not working, nor for any periods when operations are suspended by the <br /> PROJECT MANAGER. <br /> In order to properly evaluate bids, if the CONTRACTOR plans to furnish equipment with a <br /> greater (or lesser) FHP, please refer to Section 19.4.1 of the 2009 General Bid Specifications to <br /> calculate the adjusted bid price. The FHP of the desired equipment to be used must also be <br /> included under Item 10.0 on the Bid Schedule. <br /> This Item is to be included on the Bid Schedule but is not guaranteed, and will only be used if <br /> required and only if approved by the PROJECT MANAGER <br /> Measurement and payment <br /> Payment for this task will be made at the unit prices established in Item 10.0 of the Bid <br /> Schedule. The number of hours each piece and type of equipment used as directed by <br /> PROJECT MANAGER under this specification will be counted to the nearest one half hour. <br /> Such payment shall include the cost of all materials, accessories, labor, maintenance, operating <br /> supplies, salaries of operators, and any other expenses incidental to the operation of the <br /> equipment to complete the tasks as described in Item 10.0. No extra payment will be made for <br /> the use of the same equipment while performing work on other bid items on the Bid Schedule. <br /> No additional payment will be made for hauling equipment to or away from the work site except <br /> as may be proper under Mobilization/Demobilization. <br /> ITEM 11.0 ADDITIONAL CROSS VANE STRUCTURES <br /> If required, this item is to provide additional Cross Vane structures built to the same <br /> specifications as identified in and required for the completion of Item 7.0. This shall include all <br /> equipment time with competent operator and all materials required for the construction of the <br /> structures. Placement of the structures will be delineated by PROJECT MANAGER at the time <br /> of installation. <br /> 15 <br />
