♦ ERC Aquatic Resource
Pit Project Site
Delineation Report
February 17,2023
i' 1` L x IQs
Photo 13. Overview facing north of Aquatic Resource D, a Photo 14.Overview facing northeast of Aquatic Resource D,
topographical depression in the southeast corner of the survey a topographical depression in the southeast corner of the
area. This depression is likely filled with irrigation water during survey area. Broad leaf cattail and reed canary grass
the growing season. observed within the depression.
AQUATIC RESOURCE E (SOUTH PLATTE RIVER) OUTSIDE OF THE SURVEY AREA
Aquatic Resources E (South Platte River), a known TNW, consists of riverine lower perennial stream bed
(R2SB).The South Platte River is situated immediately adjacent and outside of the survey area to the east.
The South Platte River flows south to north.
The South Platte River was delineated based the ordinary high water mark (OHWM) and consisted of a
well-defined bed and bank with flowing water. The riverbanks are steep and incised with various rip-rap
(cement blocks, vehicle parts, boulders). Within the channel, vegetation has been stripped due to river
flows.Above the channel, adjacent to the survey area, vegetation consists of eastern cottonwood(Populus
deltoides) overstory trees with narrowleaf willow (Salix exigua) shrubs scattered throughout. The
herbaceous understory is primarily ruderal grassland with smooth brome (Bromus inermis), woods rose
(Rosa woodsii), common wild oat (Avena fatua), cheatgrass (bromus tectorum), perennial pepperweed
(Lepidium latifolium), and field pennycress (Thlospi orvense). The dominate species within the floodplain
consists of upland plant species (FAC-UPL).
The channel containing the South Platte River contains a sandy gravel substrate with primary hydrology
indicators of Al(Surface Water)and A3 (Saturation). Secondary indicators include 68 (Sparsely Vegetated
Concave Surface), 610 (Drainage Pattern), C9 (Saturation Visible on Aerial Imagery) and D2 (Geomorphic
Position). The South Platte River meets the criteria for a wetland based on the presence of an OHWM.
Refer to Photos 15-20 below for characteristics within Aquatic Resource E.
