MINING PLAN(CONT) EXHIBIT C
stripped material may be placed directly on the seedbed, if it will
not be redisturbed.
Mining will start on the southeast side near where the road
enters the permit area. The plan is to begin mining into the
hillside working north and west creating a floor where processing
and stockpiling will take place. This will create an amphitheater
like basin in the hillside as mining progresses and when mining
ends . The east, north and west slopes that are not daylighted out
will be graded 2h: 1v and the south slope below the mine floor will
remain in its natural state. No blasting will take place in this
mine.
When topsoil is encountered, it will be stripped and stockpiled
around the perimeter of the site or on the mine floor for use in
reclamation. An average of six (6) inches of salvaged growth medium
will be placed on the mined area. If the soil stockpiles remain
undisturbed for more than one growing season it will be temporarily
seeded using the approved seed mix at the proposed rate shown on
page 18 .
Once the mine is opened by stripping the top 6 inches of
material, mining will begin by using a dozer (s) to push the material
into piles for loading into the processing plant or for removal as
pit run material . The working slope will be cut at its final rate
of 2h to lv as mining progresses so only resoiling would be needed
if mining ended before the site is mined out . This sloped working
face will stretch across the permit from east to west as mining
works north into the deposit . From the 10 foot setback line a 2h to
lv slopes will be constructed into the mine. This will reclaim and
stabilize the slopes into the mine as mining progresses .
Processing done on site will be done using portable equipment
that is moved to the mine as needed. Processing will be done to
build material stockpiles that will be removed as needed. The
processing plant will be placed close to the mine' s working face
each time it is moved in, so the Plant Site and stockpile area will
follow mining. Mining will be done by using front-end loaders to
mine into the hillside to create the floor. It will then be loaded
into the processing plant or trucks with the loader. As the deposit
deepens the operator will begin to push material from the upper
reaches of the mine to the floor along a 2h to lv slope.
The sloping will be done as mining progresses so no backfilling
will be needed to create the final 2 : 1 grade. Grading and shaping
will run concurrent with mining so that if mining ended prematurely
only 700 feet or less of the working face would need final grading,
and resoiling, as shown on MINING PLAN MAP-EXHIBIT E-2
W.F.
