MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C
6.3.3 - This is an open pit mine located approximately 13 .75
miles west of Campo, Colorado on a private road. From the intersec-
tion of US HWY 287 and 4th street in Campo Colorado go west on 4th
St (CR J) 13 miles to CR 15 the south 2 . 0 miles to CR G. Follow CR
G west 0 . 7 miles to a private road (37°04134 .2646, 102°49136 . 7195)
bearing northwest . Follow the dirt road north 375 feet to the mine
entrance (37°04 ' 37 . 79N, 102°49 ' 38 . 08W) . Access to the mine will be
via this existing road that is owned by the landowners . This road
provides access to the property north of the road and a gravel mine
that is now closed. It is currently 18 feet wide and the location
is shown on the map exhibits supplied with this application. The
road will be graded and maintained throughout the life of the mine
to provide access to the surrounding lands owned by the applicant .
Periodic grading will be necessary to keep the road in its present
condition and to make it passable. It will remain after mining is
complete as an existing road that provides access to the property.
Being an existing road it is not required to be included in the
permit.
The anticipated life of this mine will be between 20 and 30
years depending on the amount of material in the mine, and the
market demand.
The site is currently used as rangeland and consists of a sandy
gravely hillside that slopes from north to south. The usable
material on this site, is 40+ feet deep. The dirt covering the
gravel averages 0 to 5 inches deep over the material to be mined.
It can not be considered topsoil in the usual sense but is a thin
cover of rocky sand that grass grows sparsely on.
The material will be used to supply borrow, pit-run fill
material, and processed aggregates. The land will remain rangeland
as mining progresses and once reclamation is complete the area will
be reseeded so it will have the same use . Initially, a slight grade
sloping to the working face will be created so surface water runoff
can be contained on the site until reclamation is complete. All
stormwater on the site will be directed towards the mining face
where it can soak in or be treated before released. Stormwater will
not be retained on the site for more then 72 hours .
Along the exterior of the permit area a 10 foot mining limit
setback line will be established by grading a ditch parallel to the
permit line. This line will become the top of the finished slope .
Prior to mining a section of the surface, it will be stripped of 6
inches of dirt (growth medium) and placed around the mine setback or
on the mine floor for used in reclamation.
