Cultural Resource Review and Reconnaissance Survey for the Fairmeadows RV Storage and Gravel Mining Pit
Project, Greeley, Weld County, Colorado
I
i
Figure 21. Site 5WL9412, Feature 5 (worker's cottage) at center,with Feature 6
(concrete building foundation) at far left, view to the east.
Feature 6 is the remains of a concrete building foundation set parallel to the northwest side of the
worker's cottage and adjacent to the dirt driveway road(see Figure 22).A covered well opening is
centered near the feature's south side and abutting the cottage.
Although the house and its outbuildings are on a property owned by a Union Colonist and early Greeley
settler Joel Edwin Davis,he acquired this property later in life as an investment rather than it being
directly tied to the family's historical prominence in the region. The property has remained
investment/rental property ever since. The house does not present significant or masterful architectural
elements of design or materials. The house has had incongruous changes and additions made, including
additions that distort its shape and mass, replacement window openings, and changes to the siding and
entry openings. The property lacks significance and integrity under any NRHP criteria.
21
