There will be more than enough overburden and topsoil stockpiled from on-site materials to fulfill
reclamation needs as the groundwater lakes take up the majority of the reclamation area. Table
E-2 shows the volumes of topsoil and overburden required for reclamation and the material
volumes that will be stripped and stockpiled.
Table E-2 Reclamation Volumes
Material Available on Site Requirements for Reclamation i
Phase Phase Topsoil Overburden Topsoil Overburden
Area Stripped(CY) Stripped Required Backfill Required
acres C C C
1 25.8 17,240 124,170 4,060 21,300
2 11.3 7,590 54,670 2,430 18,800
3 14.4 9,660 69,560 2,600 20,190
4 16.1 10,790 77,660 12,900 1 19,800
Totals 67.6 45,290 326,080 11,990 80,090
2. Current Reclamation Work
As of 2022, approximately 15 acres have already been reclaimed from past mining. Previous
reclamation work includes the regrading and vegetating of the large pond in the center of the
property. A small portion of the southeast edge of the pond still requires possible grading and
vegetation to complete reclamation of this area. This reclamation work will be completed during
the start of mining of Phase 1.
3. Topsoil Replacement
Approximately 4 to 6 inches of topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled prior to mining. After
backfilling and grading is completed during reclamation, topsoil will be replaced to an average
depth of 5 inches in all disturbed areas outside of the lakes and on the topsoil zone of the lake
slopes. It will be directly placed by loaders and haul trucks. All topsoiled areas will be disced to
aid in root penetration.
4. Haul Roads and Access
All internal haul roads will be graded and seeded to fit the post mine land use. The access haul
road from CO-65 will be left in place to provide access to the processing site.
Delta Paving Gravel Pit E-2 Lewicki&Associates
September 2022
