New Elk Mine Bridge Repair and Replacement Project
arcadis.com
New Elk Mine Cultural Report_TB_Rev030722 NOT FOR PUBLIC DISCLOSURE 15
3. Research Goal: To confirm that three other sites in the ROW that had been previously
determined to be destroyed were, in fact, destroyed, and that no evidence of them remained (i.e.,
5LA.1452, 5LA.1472, and 5LA.1522).
a. Result: Success; other three sites in ROW were confirmed to be destroyed.
4. Research Goal: To investigate other existing sites with boundaries that intersect the ROW to
ensure that there were no artifacts or features in the ROW that could be affected by proposed
Project activities (i.e., 5LA.1099, 5LA.1211, and 5LA.2202).
a. Result: Success; other sites were confirmed to have no artifacts or features in the ROW.
Table 2 summarizes the results of this survey and provides synopses of NRHP eligibility
recommendations. Arcadis recommends three sites (5LA.2202, 5LA.5913, and 5LA.7112) as individually
eligible for listing on the NRHP; 17 resources as not individually eligible, but contributing to the NRHP-
eligible C&W Railroad (5LA.7112), and the remaining 24 resources as not eligible for NRHP listing under
any criteria (Table 2). For full details, including full evaluation according to NRHP criteria and aspects of
integrity, refer to Appendix A: Maps of the Results, and Appendix B: OAHP Site Forms.
Table 2.
