13 September 2022 C-1981-010/Trapper Mine RAR <br /> SIGNS and MARKERS Rule 4.02 <br /> o Topsoil stockpiles observed were clearly marked with identifying signs. <br /> o Pond identification signs were prominently displayed in the vicinity of the ponds visited and were <br /> in adequate repair at the time of inspection. <br /> o Most ponds had sediment markers. <br /> ROADS—Rule 4.03 <br /> Construction 4.03.1(3)14.03.2(3); Drainage 4.03.1(4)14.03.2(4); Surfacing and Maintenance 4.03.1(5) <br /> and(6)14.03.2(5) and(6); Reclamation 4.03.1(7)14.03.2(7) <br /> o Main haul roads were in good repair and well maintained at the time of inspection, as were access <br /> roads in I, L and N Pits. <br /> o Access roads to ponds were in good repair. <br /> o Ditches appeared to be functioning adequately. <br /> o Roads were being watered throughout the site. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE Rule 4.05 <br /> Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, <br /> 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage-Acid <br /> and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18 <br /> Unless otherwise noted, pond banks and dams appeared stable at the time of inspection. Spillways were <br /> functioning adequately at the time of inspection. The following pond systems were visited: <br /> a) Coyote Pond held a small amount of water along the west bank of the pond. <br /> b) Far East Buzzard is a sediment control pond surrounded by phase III released land and <br /> the only pond with no effluent limits on it. The pond was dry at the time of inspection. <br /> As expansion occurs in the VJ and C Pits this pond will be mined through and a new Far <br /> East Buzzard will be located to the north. <br /> c) Dredging in No Name 42 pond is nearly complete with the removal of soil placed as pads <br /> for the dredging equipment occurring at the time of inspection. <br /> d) Horse pond may be dredged next year and West Horse is not slated to remain as a <br /> permanent pond. Talked about reclaiming West Horse simultaneous to the dredging of <br /> Horse Pond. <br /> e) Johnson Pond 410 is experiencing elevated pH. Dredging to deepen the pond and <br /> remove vegetation to prevent pond from increasing in temperature in summer was <br /> discussed. <br /> f) No Name Pond 44 held clear water and was discharging at the time of inspection. <br /> Cattails are prevalent in the discharge channel although water appears to flow through <br /> (Photo 6). <br /> g) No Name Pond 45 was discharging at the time of the inspections. Cattails are growing in <br /> the discharge channel. <br /> h) Ute Pond 41 was dry at the time of inspection with bulrushes growing in the pond bottom <br /> (Photo 9). The spillway was in good repair and appeared to be functioning adequately. <br /> i) Johnson Pond 46 was discharging clear water at the time of inspection. Cattails were <br /> present at the outlet culvert structure but water appeared to be flowing through. <br /> j) Johnson Pond 47 was discharging a small amount of clear water at the time of inspection. <br /> The concrete spillway appeared in good repair. <br /> k) Johnson Pond 48R was discharging clear water at the time of inspection.
