Table D-1 -Typical Onsite Equipment
EquipmentQuantity
WateiwTrdc 1
On-highway Dump Truck 1 Varies with production
Loader 2
BuN#ozer ,
A stand-alone 500 gallon off-road diesel fuel tank will be located on-site. The tank will have
secondary containment in the form of double walls. All equipment onsite will have onboard
diesel tanks in full secondary containment. Full secondary containment has 110% of the volume
of the tank that is in it. A truck scale and scale house will also be located onsite, near the
access. The fuel tank will be located next to the scale house.
2. General Mining Plan — Method of Mining
Mining at Mystic Soil will be conducted in a single phase. Mining will be from south to north and
will entail the excavation of four pits. These pits will be converted to recreation fields as their
final use. Maps C-2 and C-3 show the extents of mining and cross sections of the mining and
reclamation plans. The total affected area will be 319.8 acres and the total disturbed area will be
115.9 acres as is shown on Map C-2. Crushing and screening of excavated material may take
place onsite. No asphalt or concrete will be manufactured onsite. A truck scale and scale house
will be installed onsite. No permanent plants of offices will be built onsite.
Explosives will not be used at this site.
1.4. Mining Buffers and Limitations
Throughout the mine life the setbacks shown on Map C-2 will be maintained. Setbacks include
those from Highway 17, County Road B, County Road 62, and Lateral 47, a ditch that is part of
the Farmers Union Canal system. Stormwater control berms and stockpiles will be present
during mining, but removed during reclamation. Additionally, the excavation of topsoil and
overburden from the site will create storage volume for storm and flood events onsite.
3. Overburden and Topsoil Handling
Since the purpose of this mining operation is to excavate and sell the soil and product in place
at the site, and the post mine land use involves industrial/commercial areas, handling of topsoil
is atypical for a construction materials operation. All material excavated from the mining pits will
be sold as product. The top 12 inches of material in the Soil Storage Area will be stockpiled for
reclamation of that area. All earthmoving will be done using mining equipment suitable for this
type of operation including the following: front end loader, off road haul trucks, and water trucks.
Mystic Soil D-3 ® Lewicki&Associates
November 2020
