Sump upstream of containment area #5, east of the conveyor.
Containment area 45 was holding water and it appears NECC had recently been pumping water from the
containment area. It was difficult to judge the amount of sediment in the containment area but NECC should
monitor this feature closely and clean out the sediment from the structure if necessary to insure untreated water
does not flow-offsite.
Pond 004 was holding a small puddle of water but was not discharging. The embankment was stable and
vegetated. The primary and emergency spillways were clear and functional.
Containment areas 44 and 43 appeared damp but no problems were noted.
Containment area 41 was holding water,no problems were noted.
Containment area 42 was dry and the embankment was stable and vegetated.
Ditch D30E/D34a north of the West Portal Fan House is eroded and needs to be repaired and stabilized.
Pond 001 was holding water but was not discharging. The primary and emergency spillways were clear and
functional. The embankment was stable and vegetated.
Pond 007a was holding water. A small rill has formed on the north side of the pond embankment that NECC will
need to monitor. The pond was not discharging but NECC was pumping water from the pond at the time of the
inspection. According to Nick Mason, a new pump has been purchased and will be installed to allow NECC to
pump water from Pond 007a/006a to other ponds within the system such as Pond 004.
Pond 006a was holding water. NECC was pumping water from Pond 007a to Pond 006a. The embankment was
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 5 of 11
