South Hinsdale Response to Objections
12 July 2022
designation, this stretch along the river from Taylor Lane to the Countyline may not meet
the standards.
(2) Claim: only reason for operation is to make money — does not serve the great[er]
good..." We appreciate that some persons are able to read minds, but the Texers have
attempted to make clear that one of their major objectives in this project is to aid the
community by providing needed material in an economical way and reducing
environmental impacts of transport. They also need to make a living. See Section 5.11.10
Objections:
(1) Objection: traffic — on surrounding roads See Section 5.3. We are unsure what
"surrounding roads"are referred to here— Taylor Lane and Kleckner Lane would be used
ONLY if material is to be delivered to addresses on those roads or connecting ONLY to
those roads. Other USFS and County roads in both Hinsdale and Archuleta County other
than FSR-631 (Piedra Road) would be used similarly.
(2) Objection: air quality—traffic dust See Section 5.3
(3) Objection: noise—in the area See Section 5.7
(4) Objection: water quality— Piedra River See Section 5.2
(5)Objection: location—too close to river, dangerous to preservation of the river Sections
5.1 and 5.2
(6) Objection: social impacts — "to folks that neighbor the proposed site" — "risk of
compromising the natural peace and beauty of the area" See Sections 5.7, 5.4.2, and 5.9
3.27 York and Joanie Duncan
231 Taylor Lane
List of one (1) claim and three (3)objections.
Claims:
(1) Claim: location -does not meet the planning guidelines See Section 5.1
Objections:
(1) Objection: general — disruption — "dust clouds, dangerous traffic, air and water
pollution, disturbance to wildlife, noise, etc." General comment addressed in various
places of Section 5 for multiple objections
(2) Objection: location—near Piedra Trailhead See Section 5.1
(3)Objection:viewshed—"unsitely[sic]mess in the middle of the valley" See Section 5.4.2
3.28 Amy Smith
List of three (3)objections.
(1)Objection: traffic—"different kind of traffic" See Section 5.3. Traffic types (large trucks
—including semis and trucks with trailers, pickups, and passenger vehicles) will be similar
to traffic presently on Piedra Road for logging, ranching, tourists (RVs and pickups with
campers), and commercial deliveries.
(2) Objection: general—"noise, pollution and distraction" See Section 5.
5182-22-003 WAST£LIN£, INC.
