Primer selected must be compatible <br />with finish coats of paint. Coordinate selection of metal primer with finish <br />paint requirements specified in Section "Painting." <br />~ F. Galvanizing Repair Paint <br />High zinc dust content paint for regalvanizing welds in galvanized steel, <br />complying with Military Specification MI1rP-21035 (Ships). Z.R.C. by <br />Sealube Co., or equivalent. <br />- Part 3 -EXECUTION <br />3.01 -Fabrication <br />~_ Form materials so shapes indicated with straight lines, sharp angles, smooth curves. <br />Drill or punch holes and smooth edges. Weld permanent shop connections. All <br />welds continuous fillet type. Grind smooth, welds that will be exposed. Conceal <br />fastenings where practicable. Punch or drill for temporary field connections and <br />for attachment of work by other trades. Fabricate work in shop in as large <br />• assemblies es is practicable. Meet requirements specified under Structural Steel <br />r for fabricating items of structural nature or use. Qualify welding processes and <br />~;:i welding operators in accordance with AWS "Standard Qualification Procedure." <br />3.02 -Shop Painting <br />A. Remove scale, rust and other deleterious materials before applying shop <br />coat. Clean off heavy rust and loose mill scale in accordance with SSPC SP- <br />2 "Hand Tool Cleaning," or SSPC SP-3 "Power Tool Cleaning," or SSPC SP-7 <br />~- "Brush-Off Blast Cleaning." Remove oil, grease end similar contaminants in <br />_ accordance with manufacturer's instructions, and at rate to provide uniform <br />dry film thickness of 2.0 mils for each coat. Use painting methods which <br />will result in full coverage of joints, corners, edges and exposed surfaces. <br />i- B. Immediately after surface preparation, brush or spray on primer in <br />,4 accordance with manufacturer's instructions, and at rate to provide uniform <br />dry film thickness of 2.0 mils for each coat. Apply one shop applied primer coat to all ferrous metal not indicated to be <br />set in or receive concrete. Thoroughly clean off foreign matter prior to <br />L shop priming. <br />D.
