Type 4 Material <br />~• <br />The Contractor may be able to use on-site materials from the area near the <br />river to obtain this material. He should be cognizant of the fact that most <br />on-site materiel used for Type 4 material will require screening to obtain <br />proper gradations. The material shall be placed to form a uniform compacted <br />gravel mat. The foundations of structures within pond embankments (such as outlet <br />towers) shall be prepared by overexcavating a minimum of 2 feet and backfilling <br />the overexcavated zone with Type 1 or Type 2 material compacted to 100% of <br />ASTM D-698 Standard Proctor Density. Backfilling of areas beneath foundations <br />shall be accomplished in uniform l.fts of approximately 6 to 8 inches and shall be <br />compacted at plus or minus 3% of optimum moisture content. <br /> <br />02200-4 <br />
