Products which rust or are damaged by the elements shall be covered or
• wrapped during storage and shall be restored to new condition prior to
installation or said equipment shall be rejected and the Contractor shall be
responsible for prompt replacement. Extreme care shall be used in the
handling, storage and installation of sluice gates and appurtenances to
prevent damage or distortion to the equipment and to insure proper
performance.

C. Handling Products
Mechanical hoists and/or skids shall be used to load, uNoad, or lift products
in order to avoid shock or damage. Under no circumstances shall such
materials be dropped.
PART 2 -MATERIALS
2.01 Materials
(~ A. General
1. The slide gate shall be furnished complete by the supplier with hand-
wheel, operating stem, and other appurtenances or accessories as
r specified.
~• 2. The slide gate shall be cast iron, fully bronze mounted and will have
~ side wedges for seating head conditions and side, top and bottom
- wedges for unseating head conditions.
- 3. The slide gate shall be the product of the ARMCO Steel Corporation,
__ Waterman Industries, Inc., or approved equal.
~- B. Design
1. Conformance: AWWA C501 Service: Gates shall be of construction
,_ suitable for water storage reservoir dam outlet control applications.
