Fjkl=
@YomanSafety,Health,and Environmental Action Plan
Hard Scrabble/S Bar C Bond Forfeiture Project
Iron Woman Construction and Environmental Services,LLC
Page 4 of 22
1.3 Project Background
The project consists of multiple sites located in Lamar, CO This Health and Safety Plan was prepared to
address the activities associated with potential occupational exposures to the following known hazards:
• Human and construction equipment interface
• High Walls
• Bodies of Water
• Slips,trips and falls
• Physical Exertion
Iron Woman Construction(Iron Woman)is contracted to conduct the following activities at the Job Site:
1. Hard Scrabble —Reduction in peninsula of overburden highwall by dozing material in water
body. Reseeding of area once work completed.
2. S Bar C—Removal of highwall around pond by dozing material into water body. Transport and
installation of topsoil to worked area and re-seeding of site.
1.4 Site Specific Safety Concerns
In addition to the typical safety concerns associated with any construction project there are some site-
specific safety concerns associated with each of the project sites.
S Bar C Mine Site
Hazard: Water Body—The majority of the work to be performed at this site is the reduction of a high-
wall surrounding the old mine which is now a pond. The depth of this pond is approximately 20' with an
immediate drop off at the water's edge.
Mitigation: During high-wall reduction operations ground personnel will monitor the dozer operations
and communicate with the operator via hand signal as to when they are approaching the water's edge.
Material will be pushed into the water and will be continually monitored by ground personnel who will
maintain a line of site with the operator at all times.
Hazard: Topsoil placement on slope—Topsoil will be imported from nearby stockpile and dumped using
an off-road end dump near the shoulder of the 3:1 cut.
Mitigation: Driver will take care to insure they are either placing material at the shoulder of the
embankment or will back down slope with assistance from ground personnel to place material on the
slope. All dumping will occur with truck parallel to slope.
Hard Scrabble Mine Site
Hazard: Water Body—The reduction of the highwall peninsula at hard scrabble will face the same water
body challenges as the S Bar C site.
