The Division estimates approximately twenty-four thousand cubic yards (24,000 yd3) of
overburden material is located in the pile. Please note this figure is an estimate of the
material that will need to be graded into the pond. CONTRACTORS are responsible for
verifying all estimates prior to bid submittal. No outside fill or organic matter shall be
backfilled in the pit unless approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. At NO time shall any
water from the pond be allowed to discharge offsite during construction.
Measurement and Payment
Measurement for payment shall be made of the actual unit quantities provided and
installed according to specification, at the unit cost indicated under ITEM 3.0 on the Bid
Schedule. The unit price bid for overburden pile removal and highwall reduction will cover
all costs for completing the activities required under this Task. Payment shall be as this task
is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. Such payment shall be
considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment, transportation and all
other items and materials necessary and incidental to the completion of ITEM 3.0.
ITEM 4.0 S BAR C FARMS BACKFILL AND REDUCE HIGHWALL
Reclamation of the S Bar C Farms site is limited to reducing the highwall on the northern
edge of Pond 3. The highwall is approximately 10 to 20 feet above the groundwater
elevation, and approximately 2,500 long. Pond water depths in this area range from 19 to
30 feet deep. See attached S Bar C Farms Map for further detail.
Highwall elimination shall start approximately 50 feet back from the edge of Pond 3.
Material shall be cut and removed with a large excavator to achieve an overall slope of
3H:1 V or less along the northern edge of Pond 3 for a distance of 2,500 feet. The material
cut to eliminate the highwall shall be placed directly into Pond 3. At NO time shall any
water from the Pond 3 be allowed to discharge offsite during construction.
The Division estimates approximately thirty-one thousand cubic yards (31,000 yd3) of
material is required to be cut to eliminate the highwall to a 3H:1 V slope or less, as directed
by the PROJECT MANAGER. Please note this figure is an estimate of the material that will
need to be graded into the pond. CONTRACTORS are responsible for verifying all
estimates prior to bid submittal. No outside fill or organic matter shall be backfilled in the
pit unless approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
Measurement and Payment
Measurement for payment shall be made of the actual unit quantities provided and
installed according to specification, at the unit cost indicated under ITEM 4.0 on the Bid
Schedule. The unit price bid for highwall reduction will cover all costs for completing the
activities required under this Task.
