TASK 4.0 ESTABLISHING DRAINAGE SWALE
The CONTRACTOR shall use the remaining material from the overburden pile (approximately
350 cubic yards) on site after the construction of the berm to fill in low areas where water is
ponding and establish a drainage swale as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER(see Figure 2).
Fill material will be graded to match adjacent topography with slopes no steeper than 5(h):I(v).
The fill material will be moved an estimated average distance of two hundred feet(200 feet).
Fill will be compacted using mechanical compaction techniques approved by the PROJECT
MANAGER. Thorough compaction shall consist of a minimum of two (2)passes over all areas
so that the marks overlap one another. Equipment shall be tracked forward in a single pass and
return along the same path.
The drainage alignment will be field located by the PROJECT MANAGER. It will be an earth
lined swale approximately two hundred fifty feet(250 linear feet) long and twenty feet(20 feet
wide bottom width and one and one half feet(1.5 feet) deep with side slopes no steeper than
5(h):I(v). The swale will direct water from the low area toward the historic creek channel and
through to the existing culverts maintained by the County.
Approximately one hundred(100 linear) feet of the slopes along the northern edge of site and
near the culvert will need to be laid back to a 3(h):l(v) or flatter slope; excess material can be
used to fill in low areas, as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. It is estimated that this will
involve regrading sixty cubic yards (60 cubic yards) of material.
TASK 5.0 RESEEDING OF ALL WORK AREAS
Following earthwork activities, the CONTRACTOR shall reseed all areas disturbed by
reclamation activities. This includes the reclaimed areas as well as any areas disturbed for access.
It is estimated that up to three (3) acres of disturbance will need to be reseeded. Areas will be
revegetated according to the Revegetation Specifications, Section 20.0 in the General Bid
Specifications, 2009.
Application of materials must be accomplished in a manner that results in a consistent, complete,
through and even distribution of seed and fertilizer to all ground surfaces. Reseeding methods
will be used so as to not disturb existing vegetation established on site. CONTRACTOR must
supply the labor and equipment required to complete the task and fertilizer. PROJECT
MANAGER will supply the seed.
The following requirements apply to reseeding:
