backfilled area shall be graded to blend in with the surrounding topography. No outside fill or <br /> organic matter shall be used unless approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. <br /> Material from the stockpiles shall be placed in lifts and compacted through traffic compaction or <br /> use of other appropriate mechanical compaction technique approved by the PROJECT <br /> MANAGER. Thorough compaction shall consist of a minimum of two (2)passes with rubber <br /> tire equipment over all areas so that the track marks overlap one another. Equipment shall be <br /> tracked forward in a single pass and return along the same path. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> Measurement for payment shall be made of the actual unit quantities provided and installed <br /> according to specification, at the unit cost indicated under Item 3.0 on the Bid Schedule. The unit <br /> price bid for stockpile removal and site grading will cover all costs for completing the activities <br /> required under this Task. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved by the <br /> PROJECT MANAGER. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, <br /> materials, equipment,transportation and all other items and materials necessary and incidental to <br /> the completion of Item 3.0. <br /> ITEM 4.0 HERBICIDE APPLICATION FOR WEED CONTROL, YEAR 1 <br /> Chemical control of both diffuse knapweed and Canada thistle can be affective with application <br /> of either Perspective or Milestone herbicides. Herbicide application will be conducted by a <br /> Commercial Applicator licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture. Herbicide <br /> application shall include the cost of the chemicals used as well as labor for applying the proper <br /> herbicide at the accepted rates (according to manufacture specifications)to mitigate the presence <br /> and spreading of weeds identified in this Scope of Work and other species as determined by the <br /> PROJECT MANAGER. It is anticipated a fall application will be required. <br /> Weed control will be required on interspersed weeds within the project area totaling 9.0 acres. <br /> Spraying will be done as spot treatment on specified plants. It is estimated that weed species <br /> populate 40% of the plant growth at the project site. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> Payment for this item will be made at the unit price established in Item 4.0 of the Bid Schedule. <br /> Measurement for payment will be made per acre, 9.0 acres requiring interspersed weed control <br /> are included in the bid schedule. The rate per will be measured to the nearest half(0.5) acre and <br /> paid at the unit price bid on the Bid Schedule. Payment for this item will be upon completion and <br /> approval by the PROJECT MANAGER. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for <br /> all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of <br /> Item 4.0. <br /> Page 11 of 15 <br />
