The Project Safety Plan must be provided to the work crew members in the language in which
they are most readily able to comprehend.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this item will be reflected in a lump sum
quote under Item 2.0 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum quote will cover all costs for developing
and implementing the Project Safety Plan or SHEAP, including writing and revising the plan as
required, provision and maintenance of safety equipment, conduct of daily safety meetings and all
other items necessary and incidental to meeting the specifications of this item and of the Project
Safety Plan or SHEAP. Payment shall be made as this item is completed and approved by the
PROJECT MANAGER. Payment for this item will be made only on the final (before retainage)
invoice.
Note: If unusually dry conditions exist at or during the execution of the project, or as directed by
the PROJECT MANAGER, a 20-pound fire extinguisher and a large round-pointed shovel with
an overall length of at least forty-eight (48) inches or equivalent will be required to be on site at
all times.
ITEM 3.0 SEDIMENT CONTROL AND GRADING AREA 1,YEAR 1
Several left over waste rock and stockpiles exist in Area 1 (see Figure 2). These piles need to be
removed and the disturbed areas within Area 1 graded to an overall 3H:IV or less slope, blended
with the natural ground conditions at the site. DRMS estimates this will include moving
approximately 1,000 cubic yards of material an average distance of 50 feet.
Prior to grading work, Erosion Control measures shall be in accordance with Section 22 of the
General Bid Specifications, 2009. It is the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR to ensure that
sediment generated during the construction process does not migrate from the construction area.
In order to accomplish this, CONTRACTOR must take appropriate steps before and during
construction to minimize sediment transport from the site. Pre-construction steps will include, at
a minimum:
• CONTRACTOR shall install up to six hundred(600) linear feet of straw wattle (or
pre-approved equivalent) along the down slope (southeast) side of the Area 1 work
zone at the toe of all slopes being disturbed by construction. Wattle shall be installed
according to manufacturer's specifications, and may be removed following
completion of construction activities unless directed to remain in place by the
PROJECT MANAGER.
Please note these figures are an estimate of the material required to achieve a 3H:1V slope.
CONTRACTORS are responsible for verifying all estimates prior to bid submittal.
