ITEM 5.0 REVEGETATION OF ALL WORK AREAS,YEAR 1
Following grading and weed control measures, all disturbed areas shall be revegetated. This
includes the reclaimed areas as well as any newly constructed access routes and areas where
weeds have been eradicated. It is estimated that up to 9.0 acres of disturbance will need to be
revegetated in Areas 1 and 2 shown on Figure 2. Areas will be revegetated according to the
Revegetation Specifications, Section 20.0 in the General Bid Specifications, 2009.
Application of materials must be accomplished in a manner that results in a consistent, complete,
through and even distribution of seed, fertilizer and mulch to all ground surfaces. Revegetation
methods will be used so as to not disturb existing vegetation established on site. CONTRACTOR
must supply the laborer and equipment required to complete the task, fertilizer and mulch.
PROJECT MANAGER will supply the seed.
The following requirements apply to revegetation:
Seed Distribution: The PROJECT MANAGER will provide the seed.An even distribution of
seed over all disturbed areas is required. The seed shall be incorporated into the soil by raking or
chain dragging then lightly compacted to provide good seed-soil contact.
Fertilizer: Biosol Plus (7-2-1), or approved equivalent, will be added to all ground surfaces
disturbed during reclamation construction. This material will be applied in advance of seeding at
the rate of four hundred(400)pounds per acre. It is estimated that up to 3,600 pounds of Biosol
Plus or approved equivalent fertilizer will be required.
Mulch: Two (2)tons of certified weed free mulch per acre will be applied to the ground surface.
It is estimated that up to 18 tons of mulch will be required. Mulch will be provided by
CONTRACTOR and must be certified as noxious weed free or noxious weed seed free by an
authorized State or County Officer. Documentation of certification must be provided to Project
Manager prior to application of mulch. The mulch will be evenly distributed over the ground
surface and crimped in by hand. Surface roughening will occur simultaneously with distribution
of the weed free mulch in order to prevent loss of the mulch due to wind.
Watering: No water will be applied to the revegetated areas.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for this item will be made at the unit price established in Item 5.0 of the Bid Schedule.
Measurement for payment will be made to the nearest 0.1 acre of area revegetated. The price bid
shall include all costs for labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary for
revegetation as described in this item. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for
all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the completion of
Item 5.0.
