Topsoil and overburden will be directly placed via trucks and loaders. Berms will be flattened and
ponds will be filled using dozers. Components, areas, and volumes that make up the worst-case
reclamation scenario in each phase are described below:
Phase 1 — Existing Disturbance (62 acres):
1. Backfill and grade 500 feet of highwall (approx. 30 ft tall)to the final contours
a. 10,703 CY of backfill directly placed via loader and haul truck from overburden
stockpiled in old mining area
2. Place topsoil across all areas that are not partially reclaimed
a. Place topsoil on all 51 acres at 12 inches deep= 82,263 CY
3. Remove scale and office
4. Seed entire disturbance area
a. 62 acres total to be seeded, assume 25% seed failure (applied to area in calculating
estimated costs)
5. Mulch all seeded areas
Phase 2— Northern Disturbance (25 acres):
1. Place topsoil across all disturbed areas
a. Place topsoil on all 25 acres at 12 inches deep=40,325 CY
b. Remove scale and office
2. Seed all retopsoiled areas
a. 25 acres total to be seeded, assume 25% seed failure (applied to area in calculating
estimated costs)
3. Mulch all seeded areas
Spring Creek Pit
September 2021 L-g Lewicki St Associates
