Design Report
Goose Haven Reservoir Cell 2A
May 14, 2021
embankment toe drain. The Project Construction Specifications require the toe drain outlets to
discharge freely into a location where flow rates can be measured, such as a gallery, manhole,
vault, or headwall to be approved at the time of construction by the Engineer. The seepage flows
will be measured using a container of a known volume such as a five-gallon bucket and a
stopwatch.
The gage rod will extend along the upstream side of the embankment from the Cell 2A outlet to
within 1 ft of the crest of the embankment. The gage rod markings will indicate the vertical distance
from the invert elevation of the entrance to the outlet. The gage will be marked in feet and tenths
of feet. Details for construction of the gage rod are shown on sheet C-31 of the Project
Construction Drawings.
10 MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL DESIGN
The transfer of stored water from Cell 2A to Cell 2 will be controlled by a 24-inch diameter sluice
gate operated from the top of the transfer box, as shown on sheet HS-62 of the Project
Construction Drawings. Specification Section 35 22 26 addresses requirements for sluice gates.
Mechanical components other than the sluice gate are not planned for the Cell 2A project. The
design of Cell 2A does not include electrical components.
BRIERLEY
ASSOCIATES
Creating Space Underground
