F. Description of animal impacts on revegetation: No significant animal impacts
were noted. Grazing appears to be continuing in some areas in a well managed
fashion. A nice change from the past with the former grazing lessee. Very positive
impacts everywhere including the channel vegetation of Coal Creek.
WEED STATUS:
1. General overview of weed status on site: Weed control of Cirsium species (Bull Thistle
like weeds) and knapweed is being done. As professional weed applicators are so busy
contracts for timely spraying are difficult to obtain. Now that the pandemic has subsided
clients of those businesses are very busy catching up with work that was not done last year. So
Schmidt is doing the control themselves using herbicides that are available to non-licensed
people. Not as good as the "really good stuff'but it works well enough.
OTHER INFORMATION THAT MIGHT BE USEFUL FOR FUTURE REFERENCE: No
particular information was gathered in the last year that would be relevant to future operations.
DESCRIPTION OF UNUSUAL CONDITIONS OR EVENTS: No unusual events or conditions
were encountered in the last year. Everything else remained quite stable.
APPENDIX INCLUSIONS: At the end of this report are 4 pages of photographs of selected areas
in the pit.
PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION: One CD of photographs is included with this report.
This includes all the photographs of this site taken in the last year. No images were retouched,
although some images were adjusted to produce a better balance in tone and color rendering. Each
image contains the EXIF data for that image so it can be determined exactly when the image was
taken and other pertinent photographic information. The only photographs taken were on July 2,
2021.
(Note: A copy of this report, less photodocumentation CD's, must also be provided to the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety to be included in the Reclamation Permit file as well as
the United States Army Corps of Engineers. However, the Corps has stated that they do not want a
copy.)
Status report for 2021 due July 15, 2021 Page 4 of 4
