annual mustard, and astragulas. Grasses include primarily blue gamma, galleta, bottlebrush
squirreltail, and three-awn. The NRCS non-irrigated Land Capability Classification of 4c
indicates that the site is composed of soils with some limitations, can be used for cultivation with
careful management, and may be used for crops, pasture, woodland, range, or wildlife grazing.
5. Wildlife
Wildlife existing at the grassy rolling prairie site are mule deer, elk, coyote, bob cat, lynx,
badger,cottontail&jackrabbit,prairie dog, songbirds,crow, itinerant hunting raptors,and a
limited small reptile and insect regime. Badger and prairie dog populations have been effectively
controlled by the efforts of the ranching operation on the sizable host Weimer Ranches. The
primary food source for Black-footed ferret having thus been effectively eliminated, that listed
species is not found in the vicinity. Listed raptors do, undoubtedly, frequent the vicinity
occasionally in their hunting rounds, but do not perch nor nest in the immediate vicinity due to
the lack of cover and steep terrain preferred for those essential activities. Mule deer and elk
frequent the area and tend to winter extensively there. The larger mammal predators frequent the
area, although their activity is largely itinerant in nature. Grizzly bear are not known to exist in
the vicinity. Black bear, although not commonly known to frequently inhabit the area, could
possibly occasionally traverse the site in transition to their more protected and preferred habitat.
All of the wildlife inhabitants of the area are highly mobile and easily relocate to the nearby
ample similar habitat as they are temporarily displaced by mining activity. Following the
relatively short duration of mining activity, all species quickly re-populate the reclaimed and
enhanced range pasture habitat.
6. Structures
There are no structures within 200 feet of the permit area therefore no damage waivers for
structures are required. Onsite ranch and mine access roads will be allowed following the
completion of mining. See the included road affidavits signed by the property owners.
7. Soils
The NRCS soil map is included in Appendix 1. The site contains one soil type: Brax fine sandy
loam.
Weimer Ranches #4 cra11. odl a.a A%. mft,PI IA
June 2021 B-3
