UK Milling Company, LLC
Penn Mine / Lake County,Colorado
(ii) state at what point in the mining plan the site will be seeded. Explain how the seedbed will be prepared
to eliminate compacted conditions (e.g., plowed, chiseled, disked). State the type, application rate, and
soil incorporation methods of fertilizer application, if any. NOTE: Soil amendments shall only be applied
where soil tests indicate nutrient deficiencies for the plant species to be established;
At a point in time each fall a selected area will be prepared by methods stated above and revegetation
process will commence. Drilling to seed is the proposed method. For a seed mix known as the "Subalpine
Vegetation Areas(9,000—treeline).The application rate for drilling is 9.45 pounds per acre.The seed mix
is listed in Table 5-1.
(iii) state the grass, forb, shrub and tree species to be planted and the applicable quantities. Specify the
quantity of each grass and forb species as pounds of pure live seed per acre;
The species as identified in Table 5-1 as listed below:
Table 5-1: Seed Mix
Species Scientific Name Variety Lbs/Acre
Yarrow Achillea Lanulosa - 0.1
Groundsel Senecio Atratus - 0.1
Lupine Lupinus Alpestris - 1.0
Slender Wheatgrass Elymus Trachycaulus San Luis 1.4
Nodding Brome Bromus Anomalus - 2.5
Sheep Fescue Festuca Ovina Covar 0.5
Hard Fescue Festuca Ovina Darar 0.5
Duriuscula
Red Fescue Festuca Rubra Pennlawn 0.5
Tufted Hairgrass Deschampsia - 0.5
Caespitosa
Redtop Agrostis Alba - 0.1
Blue Wildrye Elymus Glaucus - 1.75
Muttongrass Poa Fendleriana - 0.5
Total pis lbs/acre (drilled) - - 9.45
(iv) specify the application method for grass and forb seeding. If the seed is to be broadcast,the application
rate shall be twice the rate required for seed drilling. If the seedbed has not been adequately roughened
prior to seeding,the seed shall be raked or harrowed after broadcast application;
Drilling is the proposed method for planting the seed mix.The seedbed will be roughened as described in
6.3.4(1)(c)(i).
(v) if a mulch is needed,specify the kind to be used,the crimping method,and rate of application; and
The type of mulch being proposed is the spreading of on-site chipped wood mulch. The mulch shall be
applied uniformly at a thickness of 3 inches over the seeded areas. Mulch shall be applied to the
designated areas immediately after seeding and not later than 24 hours after seeding has been
performed. Mulching shall not be done when the wind velocity exceeds 15 miles per hour.
Initial Application / March 2021 5-2
