mitigation measures include concurrent reclamation as mining progresses such that reclamation
commences in an area as final mining is completed, and mine-from-behind where mining uses existing
topographic features to screen mining to the extent practical.

EGS4 Consider requiring fire protection plans for new development.
A fire protection plan has been prepared for the project and is included as Attachment 15 of the
Conditional Use Permit Amendment application.

EGS5 Encourage collaboration with local, State and Federal entities to prepare fire protection
strategies and mitigation plans to limit the potential for wildland interface fires.
The Parkdale Quarry works with the Tallahassee Fire Protection District and the BLM on fire protection.

EGS6 Consider requiring traffic studies that address types of vehicles, potential roadway wear,
number of trips per day, and times of heavy traffic generation.
A traffic study was conducted for reconstruction of the County Road 157 bridge. That traffic study
included current traffic and anticipated future traffic, including that accessing the Parkdale Quarry. A
copy of that study was submitted to Fremont County and to the Colorado Department of
Transportation. The traffic study is also included In Attachment 11 of the Conditional Use Permit
Amendment application

EGS7 Encourage input from local, State, Federal agencies, and private entities regarding historical,
natural, and/or cultural features on properties proposed for development, in order to preserve
significant features or to provide suitable mitigation techniques.
The proposed expansion project was the subject of a NEPA EIS. The EIS included a historical and cultural
resource study, input form Native American groups. No input was received from local, State, Federal
agencies, and private entities regarding historical, natural, and/or cultural features on properties
proposed for development.

EGS8 Encourage collaboration with local, State, Federal agencies, and private entities to determine
location of significant historical, natural and/or cultural features, and prepare a strategy for
preservation of such features and suggestion for mitigation.
Features identified in the historical and cultural resource study with potential historical or cultural
significance are located in areas that will not be disturbed by mining and related operations.

EGS9 Encourage input from local, State, Federal agencies, and private entities regarding critical
wildlife habitat and sensitive ecological areas on properties proposed for development, in order to
preserve significant features or to provide suitable mitigation techniques.
The proposed expansion project was the subject of a NEPA EIS. The EIS included input on impacts on
wildlife from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife,
the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society, the Wild Sheep Foundation, the local Trout Unlimited Chapter, the
Wilderness Society/Wild Connections, and private citizens.

EGS10 Consider collaboration with local, State, Federal agencies, and private entities to determine the
location of critical wildlife habitat and sensitive ecological areas within the District, and prepare a
strategy for preservation of such features and suggestion for mitigation when appropriate.

Martin Marietta/Front Range Aggregates is collaborating with the Colorado Department of Parks and
Wildlife, the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Society, and the Wild Sheep Foundation on habitat enhancement
