Mica Lode, Permit M-1977-144,Technical Revision
Exhibit E—Reclamation Plan
General reclamation plan specifications:
1. All equipment, structures, fuel, explosives, and stockpiled products will be removed from any
area to be reclaimed.
2. Stability of slopes and highwalls will be attained by creating slopes of 2.51-1:1V or gentler, or
benched highwalls where it is practicable due to competent outcropping rock.
3. Backfill materials will be placed and compacted in areas where needed. Materials will be
compacted and shaped so as to not create depressions or impoundments(except those
impoundments specifically described in the reclamation plan).
4. Graded and backfilled areas, and onsite temporary roads, will be prepared for seeding by
capping with growth medium and ripping as needed for compaction. If existing material on
sloped or graded surfaces is deemed a satisfactory growth medium, no additional capping
material will be spread.
5. Revegetation seeding will be carried out in a timely manner after the seedbed of an area is
prepared. The same seed mix will be used on all areas to be seeded.
6. Salvaged woody debris will be respread on certain areas after seeding.
7. All areas will be monitored for noxious weeds and erosion, and issues will be addressed
promptly.
8. The same seedmix that is currently approved in this permit will be utilized for future
revegetation. No trees or shrubs are planned to be included in the revegetation plan, however,
since native woody species appear to naturally become established at this site.
Reclamation plan details of the individual affected areas of the permit.
For clarity, naming of the individual areas in this revision mostly conforms to the names previously used
in permit documents. Please refer to the Reclamation Plan Map in Exhibit F,which complements the
descriptions contained below.
Ruby Pit
This pit may be developed as a pond, if it is mined deep enough. If it becomes a pond, slopes will be
created to comply with Rule 3.1.5(7). No swimming is planned for this pond. The pond surface will be
1.0 acre or less.
Upon the completion of mining all highwall gradients will be reduced to 2.5:1. The east end of the pit
floor will meet the (permanent) Road 383B.
Only limited final reclamation currently exists, as partially sloped highwalls.
There may be limited amounts of oversize materials backfilled in the pit and covered during reclamation.
Slope grading: D8 dozer or equivalent on 4.0 acres of slopes, 16 hours @ $100.00/hr.
Pit floor grading(if pit is not a pond): D8 or equiv. on 1.0 acre of floor, 3 hrs @ $100.00/hr.
Seedbed prep(all areas): spread growth medium and rip, D8 or equiv., 6 hrs @ $100.00/hr.
Placement of oversize material in pit: Cat 830 loader or equiv., 150 CY @ $2.50/CY.
Seeding(all areas): 5.0 acres @ $1,000/ac.
