Screening Berm
6"seeded
topsoil cap
Central City 12 feet
Parkway ti`1 ?y.7
Processing Area surface
topsoil or waste material
Figure 2. Schematic typical cross-section of the processing area screening berm.
Creation of the processing area by filling the drainage depression adjacent to the main site access
road will occur prior to shipping commercial loads of material. During Phase 1, portable
processing equipment will be utilized within the processing area and will move from time to time
to optimize operations. Following the creation of the processing area pad and mobilization of
processing equipment, the remainder of Phase 1 will be mined in vertical 25' benches (Figure 3,
Map C-3). As the north facing slope adjacent to the processing area created during Phase 1
mining will be mined during Phase 3, the slope will not enter final reclamation but will instead
be backfilled to a 2H:1 V slope and broadcast seeded with dry rangeland seed mix to stabilize the
slope until Phase 3 mining begins.
Phase 2 will be mined following the completion of Phase 1. The Phase 2 area will be mined
vertically down from the top of the phase in nearly vertical 25' benches to create a final 2H:1 V
slope (Figure 3). Features (e.g. rock outcrops) will be left on each mined bench as part of
reclamation to create a `natural' rough surface. Areas not left as features will be backfilled and
reclaimed prior to completion of mining in the bench below the reclaimed bench (Figure 3).
Backfill will include waste fines generated on site. As part of the road cut, the wildlife crossing
will be completed and the WC will be expanded north by —19.2 acres in the center of the site to
its full extent of 100.2 acres.
Phase 3 will mine two rock types: the overlying Neogene Boulder gravel and the underlying
metamorphic bedrock(Figure 4, Figure 4Map C-5). When Phase 3 is mined, gravel will first be
mined by dozer and/or front-end loader and will not require blasting.
