Construction:
Construction of the portal is mainly below the final reclamation level, so that we can return the area in a
better state than we found it. Portal construction BELOW the reclamation line will use 8 foot long,
treated 8"x 8"timbers, #5 steel rebar and some concrete to create a safe and stable foundation around
the 8 foot wide, 12 foot long pre-existing vertical shaft. The DRMS does not need to account for this
mat-er-m-A as it will be-subsurface.
Construction of a structure to connect the subsurface portal to the CURRENT surface level will use 8 foot
long, treated 8"x 8"timbers and#5 steel rebar. This will allow for a 4 foot wide, 8 foot long ladder
compartment with a steel door grate and an 8 foot x 8 foot haulage compartment to be connected to
the surface. This structure will take one person approximately 8 hours to dismantle and 1 pickup truck
load of material to remove from the site for reclamation cost estimates. Safety and visual impact of this
structure will be considered during the construction of this portal and structure to connect to the
current surface.
Operations in this phase will be minimal as the emphasis is on converting the existing surface operation
to an underground operation. Any new material removed during the construction will be stored and
moved to one of 2 distinct piles located 25 feet east of the new portal. One pile will consist of medium
to large rocks and the other NEW pile will be smaller rocks and dirt piled on a tarp for reclamation.
Reclamation during this phase:
Continued monitoring of the Topsoil Storage Pile
Reclaiming all area possible to the NEW entrance portal to improve visual impact and safety. This
includes backfilling and grading. Measures will be taken to reduce the area of disturbance to just
around the new portal. Some topsoil may be moved and reseeded into areas that will see no further
impact from mining operations.
Ridgetop Project Area Usage: 0.12 acres, which break down to...
Area of Disturbance=0.053
Support Area=0.005
Dirt/Rock Storage=0.038
Trail j Travel =0.014
Q,vlc&c Safety Fence=0.01
