Colorado Legacy Land Former Schwartzwalder Mine <br /> North Waste Rock Pile Diversion Channel <br /> 1. The QC laboratory shall have provided QC and/or Quality Assurance(QA) <br /> testing of the proposed geomembrane and geomembrane seams for at least five <br /> completed projects having a total minimum area of 2 million square feet. The QC <br /> laboratory shall be accredited via the Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute's <br /> Laboratory Accreditation Program(GAI-LAP) for the tests the QC laboratory <br /> will be required to perform. <br /> 1.06 Quality Assurance and Quality Control <br /> A. Geomembrane manufacturer quality control testing shall meet or exceed requirements <br /> outlined in Tables 1 of this Section prior to installation. Materials that do not conform to <br /> these requirements shall be retested or rejected at the direction of Engineer. <br /> B. Geomembrane that is rejected shall be removed from the Project Site and replaced at <br /> Contractor's expense. Sampling and conformance testing of geomembrane supplied to <br /> replace rejected material shall be performed by Engineer at Contractor's expense. <br /> C. Contractor shall arrange for Geomembrane Installer to provide one or more Construction <br /> Quality Control (CQC)Managers to monitor installation,testing, and documentation of <br /> geomembrane installation. CQC Manager will coordinate all activities relating to the <br /> installation,testing, and documentation. <br /> D. Installation documentation shall be recorded by the CQC Manager. <br /> 1.07 Operation Conditions <br /> A. Geomembrane material will be exposed to direct sunlight and ultraviolet rays during the <br /> construction period. <br /> B. Geomembrane may be exposed to high wind velocitoies. <br /> C. Geomembrane shall not be deployed or field-seamed in the presence of excess moisture <br /> (i.e.,rain, fog, dew),in areas of ponded water, or in the presence of excess wind.Unless <br /> authorized by the Engineer,no placement or seaming shall be attempted at ambient <br /> temperatures below 32°F or above 104°F. Ambient temperature shall be measured at a <br /> height no greater than 6 inches above the ground or geomembrane surface. If seaming is <br /> allowed below 32°F,the procedures outlined in GSI GRI GM9 shall be followed. <br /> 1.08 Delivery,Storage and Handline <br /> A. Rolls and fabricated panels(accordion-folded in one direction,rolled in the other <br /> direction)will be unloaded from trucks in such a way that no damage occurs to the <br /> geomembrane. <br /> B. Fabricated panels accordion folded in both directions shall not be used. <br /> C. Rolls will be moved using sufficiently long stingers, spreader bars,or other equipment <br /> using at least two slings. Rolls will be lifted vertically off,and not dragged along,the <br /> truck bed. <br /> D. Fabricated panels on pallets shall be moved by forklifts. <br /> Section 026617-Geomembrane Page 3 <br />
