See the response to Item 26.
OGIP currently discharges to the Colorado River. Area 2 will either follow that path, or
discharge into the Wilsea Drain via the drainage channel north of Area 2 from the alternate
discharge point.
28. What are the units for Table G-1
Please see the revised Exhibit E.
29. What is the in-flow/recharge rates for Area 1 and Area 2?
Based on the pump rate used to maintain the dry floor of the neighboring pits, the
inflow/recharge rate is roughly 200 gpm.
30. What is the maximum volume of the Area 2 Pit/pond that could become inundated prior
to being backfilled if pumping were to cease temporarily.
Given that Area 2 will backfilled as mining progresses, the greatest volume that could be
inundated would be roughly 22 acre-feet. This is based on the groundwater table being roughly
the same depth as that anticipated in the north end of Area 1: roughly 13 feet below ground level.
Only five acres of maximum disturbance in Area 2 at a time(half of the 10 acres split between
the two Areas) out of the 14 acres of disturbed ground in Area 2 limits the"pond" area and thus
the volume.
31. Clark that two different pumps will be used to dewater Area I and Area 2 throughout
life of mine. Depict the pump location for each area on Map G-1 andlor Mining Maps.
The Area 2 pump has been added to Map C-2. Both pumps will be used throughout the life of
mine as needed for mining in each Area.
32. According to the Division of Water Resources records there are 10 abandoned wells on
the southwest corner of Area 2. Please include these on your maps pursuant to Rule
6.4.7(2)(a).Are you able to mine through them or setbacks be required?
The wells identified were all plugged in 2014 and abandoned. They were all owned by Mesa
County, who was the property owner prior to Kilgore's purchase of the parcel the abandon wells
were on.No setbacks will be required and the wells can be mined through.
33. Pursuant to Rule 6.4.7(3)describe the water needs of this project.
The water needs for the operation are discussed in Section 10 of the revised Exhibit G.
Exhibit J
34. Area 2 is entirely rangeland and is a large area which could be grazed.Address Rule
6.4.10(1)(c)
The site has been grazed in the past by small quantities of cattle. See the revised Exhibit J.
23 114 West Pit 6
October 2020
