Page 4
Miners Mall intends to utilize the 850 square feet(33%)of the 2,580 square foot pre-existing
disturbance as the Main Work Area with operational disturbance
90%of all material mined will be removed from project site, except for granite/schist waste soil
and rock. Miners Mall proposes that this material be stockpiled within the designated waste rock/
soil area of 0.02 acre. This material will be replaced into the portal during reclamation.
Approximately 10 feet from the portal,a flat area of less than 0.01 acre (300 square feet)within the
pre-existing disturbance will be utilized for as an additional operation area.
No changes will be made to the exterior of the portal, and it will remain the same at this time,
unless deemed otherwise by the BLM or DRMS. No structures of any sort will be added, with the
exception of safety features deemed necessary. This will keep visual resources from being impacted
in any way.
Access from the parking lot to the Siberia Project Area (Appendix A, Figure 3)will be by foot, totaling
0.14 acres (300 feet long—2 foot wide)along a previously disturbed single track. Additional access
and cautionary signs will be added to the travel route and an additional security trail camera with be
installed along this route.
This single track will be reclaimed after mining concludes.. . In order to facilitate later vegetation
regrowth, Miners Mall will immediately seed along the edges of the trail with native grass seed.
Final seeding and mulching will be performed on the entire 2,580 square foot trail.
Miners Mall/Humming Bird Mine is currently bonded with BLM/DRMS. The total proposed
increase of disturbance would be approximately 0.06 acre.
3.4 Description of Operations
Proposed Mining Activities
Mining activities will occur in 3 phases: stabilization, mining the vein, and reclamation.
Phase One consists of assessing the current geotechnical stability and environmental conditions of
the existing portal/adit. Previous operations utilized non-standard mining techniques. Several
holes were drilled into the tunnel from the surface, and large quantities of muriatic acid was poured
into the ground, ostensibly to loosen the non-reactive minerals within the fault. When that failed,
blasting was performed before the DRMS sealed the portal with a steel gate.
Mechanical scaling will be completed to remove decomposed rock from the ceiling and walls of the
mine. Supports, cribbing and reinforcements will be added as needed.
