22 July 2020 C-1994-082/Yoast Mine RAR
Photo 8: Overview of vegetation diversity.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS
The first parcels inspected (96, 95, 91, 61 and 60), comprised a portion of the phase II request near the
entrance along the haul road and represents private ownership seeded between 2007 and 2010.
Vegetation in these parcels exhibited well established vegetation comprising grasses, forbes and shrubs
indicative of the seed mix provided.
Next, and to the south larger phase II parcels (60, 90 and 93), were visited and include NPDES outfall 10
These parcels were seeded between 2006 and 2010. Some weeds were noted as was evidence of past
weed mitigation that negatively impacted the desired vegetation leaving bare ground. However, desirable
rye, wheat and various bunch grasses comprised the primary cover material throughout these parcels.
Pond 10 has permanent designation and was discharging at the time of inspection. Pond banks were
stable as was the dam outslope. Ownership here is private.
Continuing down the haul road through privately held parcels the two topsoil parcels 5, and 70 were noted
as photographed above all seeded in either 2007 or 2010 vegetation was well established and diverse.
There was no evidence of erosion or overland flow.
Next we moved into a previously released phase III area to take note of drainage YPM13. Seeding took
place in the associated parcels (6 and 88), in 2002 and 2003 respectively. The drainage was stable with
vegetation establishing itself among the cobbles. Rejoining the main haul road we proceeded south to
drainage YPM20, seeded in 2007. In both these drainages some minor maintenance as noted above is
required.
Continuing south down the haul road we entered the main block of parcels comprising the bond release
request. A loop was walked beginning in parcel 27, through parcels 78, 80 then up along the
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
