Environment, Inc. Page 4
The Walsenburg Sand and Gravel Company Sand Arroyo Pit
Adequacy Response 01 March 6, 2020
The law provides for inclusion of previously (pre-permit) disturbed areas into a permit
with the understanding that IF the operator redisturbs the areas then they are
responsible for reclaiming the pre-permit disturbed area.
WSG will commit to reclaiming any areas they redisturb in these areas. Primarily this
would occur if they expand the terrace mining area into the steep slopes around the
area disturbed by the concrete company. In this case, the floor of the mine would be
level with the area used by the Custer County Concrete as truck and equipment
parking. The newly disturbed areas would be graded 3h to 1v or left flat and
everything outside the parking area would be seeded. The parking area will remain
graveled as shown on the Reclamation Plan Map.
10 . Please provide a statement that the inert structural fill
imported to the site will meet all the requirements of Rule
3 . 1 . 5 (9) and in accordance with Rule 3 . 1 .5 (9) (c) please submit an
updated affidavit, signed by the current Operator now, ensuring
that any materials imported to the site for backfilling will be
clean and inert .
Attached is an Inert Material affidavit and import material acceptance plan for this
mine.
11 . Please update the Weed Monitoring and Control Plan, Section 3, in
the Appendix to reference the Sand Arroyo Pit instead of the
Perrino Pit .
Please find an updated and corrected Weed Control Plan for the Sand Arroyo Pit.
The name used was a typo mistake, this plan was updated and revised specifically for
the Sand Arroyo Pit.
12 . Please verify that the noxious weeds listed in Section 3 of the
Weed Monitoring and Control Plan are the same species that are of
concern at the Sand Arroyo Pit.
When updated for the Sand Arroyo Pit the species listed were verified with the
current Huerfano County weed list.
