The water uses are dependent upon the breakdown of products forecast for the pit production and
sales. This breakdown is given below:
5_1 Crushing and Screening Plant Operations
The crusher will be an enclosed crusher with internal water sprays. Water sprays will also be
present at the material feed and the screen deck. The production rate during operations is expected
to be 180 tons per hour which will require 160 gallons of water per hour with a total annual
operating time of 1250 hours. A conservative estimate of 200 gallons per hour will be used in these
calculations.
• 200 gallons/hour X 1250 hours/year = 250,000 gallons/year
• 250,000 gallons/year = 0.76 acre feet per year
5.2 Control Dust on Disturbed Areas
Water used for dust suppression is usually 100 percent depletive with no measurable return flows
to the river system. Dust from the haul roads will be controlled by paving for all areas outside
the mining pit boundary. Water will be used on all in pit roads. Water will only be applied
when needed at this elevation, since cold conditions on site for much of the year result in little
evaporation and/or dust. It is assumed that watering of roads will require 1700 gallons water 4x
per day for 100 days per year. Other days will have natural moisture on the roads or the site will be
inactive since the annual production is not very high. This is equivalent to 2.09 acre feet per year.
It is also assumed that minor amounts may be needed during very dry windy conditions during the
mining operation. This use is expected to be 1.2 acre feet per year. Therefore, the total consumptive
use for this category is 3.29 acre feet per year.
• 1700 gallons/application X 4 applications/day X 100 days = 680,000 gallons/year
• 680,000 gallons/year = 2.09 acre/feet/year
• 2.09 acre feet/year regular use + 1.2 acre feet/year contingency use = 3.29 acre feet/year
Rincon Materials G-6
G-{; l.wicti and Asxocislrti, k9,L(
February 2020
