mining pit is 0.297 feet (3.6 inches) of depth. Based on the hydraulic conductivity, this means that
the stormwater of the 100 -YR event will infiltrate in less than a day.
3. Groundwater
Since the test pits did not show groundwater and there are no visible seeps or springs, groundwater
is not expected to be encountered during mining. While no groundwater is anticipated to be
exposed by excavation, if it is exposed, excavation will cease at an elevation of 2 feet above the
groundwater level.
4. Irrigation Water
Irrigation water will be supplied by the landowner via water right from the Colorado River covered
under decree 07CW16.
5. Water Consumption for the Operation
Water supply for the proposed pit operations will be needed to cover a variety of uses. Based on the
location of the pit an independent water supply will need to be developed. This supply will create
water rights depletions that can be replaced through contract water available from the Colorado
River Water Conservation District. Below is a summary of the water uses proposed, the amounts of
water needed for these uses, and recommendations on how to meet those water needs.
Rincon Materials operations will involve the excavation of a dry alluvial terrace that exists above
the local water table. No groundwater exposure will take place, so there will be no need for
permanent augmentation. Almost all of the water usage within the pit will be in support of mining
and reclamation activities that are non -permanent in nature. Consumptive needs for the operation
are based on an anticipated production of 225,000 tons a year. Water demand will come from dust
control on crushing and screening, dust control on disturbed areas, and wash plant processing.
The Pit is on an elevated terrace and there is no groundwater on the terrace. This is known from
existing operations on the terrace further north of this site and also the lack of springs emanating
from the base of the gravel anywhere on the site. There is very little moisture in the gravel that will
evaporate when the material is mined.
Rincon Materials G-5 CM lxwkki and Ass ia(MP1JA
February 2020
