Cmc CONTINENTAL MATERIALS CORPORATION
approved recycle yard. Any concrete that cannot be cleanly separated shall be
disposed of in an approved offsite landfill. Two onsite structures to be demolished
will be taken apart by excavator equipment. Any non-concrete materials will be
separated for salvage. All waste material will be taken offsite to an approved landfill.
2.0 Fill Testing Requirements
2.1 Operator shall provide the following tests for materials to be approved for use as
general fill:
a. Compaction tests to determine maximum dry density and optimum moisture
content at appropriate compaction efforts (ASTM D698)
b. Natural moisture content (ASTM D2216-19)
c. Liquid limit and Plastic Limits for cohesive soils (ASTM D4318-00)
d. Particle density (Specific Gravity) to assist in compaction testing (ASTM D7263-
09)
e. Soil classification test (ASTM D2487)
f. Shrinkage and swell tests for potential expansive soils (ASTM 4546-90, ASTM
4943-18)
2.2 A graph shall be constructed to show the dry density plotted against the moisture
content, demonstrating the corresponding dry optimum moisture content and
maximum dry densities.
2.3 One set of laboratory Standard Proctor Tests (ASTM D698) shall be provided for
each major type of fill.
3.0 Site Preparation and Practices
3.1 Area to be filled shall be graded to provide drainage of any runoff and keep the fill
area dry and suitable for compaction.
3.2 Fill site shall be inspected daily to insure there is no danger of a collapse or slide.
3.3 Topsoil shall be stripped and stockpiled for reclamation use.
3.4 Unsuitable materials will be removed to a spoil site for disposal offsite at an
approved landfill.
Pikeview Quarry Amendment 4
D-10
