,>r ERC CC&V water Balance user's Manual
November 2019
Squaw Valley VLF2 Inputs, and Other Inputs. The Simulation Inputs section is where any edits are made
to the model's simulation time as well as to the type of precipitation being considered by the model. A
brief description of each parameter in the Simulation Inputs section is listed below.
Simulation and Climate Inputs:
• Simulation Settings—Opens the "Simulation Settings..."window, allowing the user to update the
simulation time settings, the Monte Carlo settings for stochastic analysis, and results options.
• Precipitation Selector—Allows the user to select either"Stochastic", "Mean", or"User-Input" for
the precipitation used by the model.VLF pond results pertaining to the 10-year or 100-year storm
events or draindown due to power outage require the user to select "Mean" or "User-Input"
precipitation. Otherwise, ERC recommends "Stochastic" precipitation be used. The "User-Input"
option should only be used for simulations of one year or shorter.
• Reference Precipitation Data — Provides dry, wet, and average precipitation data based on
historical data for reference when entering"User-Input" data. Specific guidance in using this data
is available within the model by clicking on the blue "?" box next to "Reference Values" box.
The remaining three sections in this tab allow the user to input the physical characteristics of the facilities
at the site such as pad areas. There are two types of input features in these sections. The white input edit
boxes showing numbers represent parameter values that will be constant throughout the entire
simulation. The gray time series buttons listing a parameter name represent parameters that can change
over time. Clicking on one of these buttons opens a window titled "Edit Time Series Data" and allows the
user to input a different value for each month of the simulation for that parameter, if desired. Figure 4
shows an example of an input edit box and a time series button used in the model.
Figure 4— Example of an Input Edit Box (Secondary Leach Application Rate) and Time Series Button
(Natural Ore Moisture Content) used in the Model
Secondary Leach Application Rate(gpm/ft2) 0.004
Monthly Ore Production(tons) Production
Each of the parameters available to be edited for these facilities are described below.
Arequa VLF1 Inputs:
• Ore Bulk Density(Ib/ft3)— Input for the bulk density of the ore at each PSSA
• Maximum Pumping Rate(gpm)—Input for the maximum pumping rate available to remove water
from each PSSA
5
