ERC CC&V water Balance user's Manual
November 2019
• Inputs—This dashboard is broken up into four sections:
o Simulation and Climate Inputs—Allows the user to edit the simulation settings such as
start and end time, stochastic settings, etc., and select what type of precipitation to use
for the simulation
■ Three precipitation options: "Stochastic", "Mean", or "User-Input" (Described in
more detail in the following section of this manual)
o Arequa VLF1 Inputs—Allows the user to change the physical parameters within the four
VLF1 PSSAs
o Squaw Valley VLF2 Inputs — Allows the user to edit the physical parameters within the
VLF2 Phase 1/2 and Phase 3 PSSAs
o Other Inputs—Allows the user to edit parameters for the other facilities within the model
• Climate Results—Displays result graphs for modeled precipitation and evaporation from the VLFs
• VLF1 Results— Displays result graphs for several parameters at VLF1, such as precipitation runoff
to the PSSAs, leach application rate, ore and leach absorption, leach drainage, PSSA pond volume
and elevation at the end of each month, and the pumping rate modeled at each PSSA.
• VLF2 Results— Displays result graphs for several parameters at VLF2,such as precipitation runoff
to the PSSAs, leach application rate, ore and leach absorption, leach drainage, PSSA pond volume
and elevation at the end of each month, and the pumping rate modeled at each PSSA.
• Other Stochastic Results— Displays result graphs for solution rates, makeup and water demands,
total water stored, Carlton Tunnel flows, and runoff from the pits and OSAs
• 100-Year Results— Displays result graphs for draindown due to a 12-hour power outage, inflows
from the 100-year, 24-hour storm event,and combined 100-year inflow and draindown.The 100-
year precipitation depth used in the model is 4.1 inches, per NewFields. Results in this dashboard
are only recommended to be used when mean or user-input precipitation is used instead of
stochastic values to avoid stacking multiple layers of conservative assumptions into the model
that would produce unrealistically high water storage results (further described below).
• 10-Year Results—Displays result graphs for inflow from the 10-year, 24-hour storm event and the
combined 10-year inflow and draindown. The 10-year storm depth applied in the model is 2.4
inches, per NewFields. As with the "100-Year Results", these values should only be considered
appropriate when using mean or user-input instead of stochastic rainfall values.
Model Inputs
All inputs to the model by the mine operators needed to make future model runs will occur in the"Inputs"
tab. As described above, this tab is divided into four sections: Simulation Inputs, Arequa VLF1 Inputs,
4
