ERC CC&V Water Balance user's Manual
November 2019
• Initial Pond Volume(gal)—Input for each PSSA volume at the start of the simulation. This input is
only used during the initial month of the analysis, with the model calculating PSSA volumes in
ensuing months
• Leach Application Rate (gpm/ft)— Input for the leach application rate per unit area at each VLF.
The total leached areas used by the model are determined by dividing the input leach flow rate
by the application rate
• Natural Ore Moisture Content(%)—Input for the moisture content of the natural ore during each
month of the simulation (applies to areas draining to all four PSSA within VLF1)
• Droindown Moisture Content (%) — Input for the moisture content of the ore during draindown
during each month of the simulation (applies to areas draining to all four PSSA within VLF1)
• Moisture Content Under Leach (%) — Input for the moisture content of the ore when it is under
leach during each month of the simulation (applies to areas draining to all four PSSA within VLF1)
• Leach Flow Rate (gpm)— Input for the total solution rate applied to each VLF during each month
of the simulation
• Monthly Ore Production (tons)— Input for the quantity of ore produced and placed on the heap
during each month of the simulation
• Monthly Line Areas (ftz) — Input for the exposed liner and total lined areas at each heap during
each month of the simulation
• Loaded Height(Above Liner) (ft) — Input for the total loaded height above the liner at each heap
during each month of the simulation. This value is used to determine the breakthrough,
draindown, and leach times of the heaps to the PSSAs.
Squaw Valley VLF2 Inputs:
VLF2 only contains two PSSAs (Phase 1/2 and Phase 3), as opposed to the four existing at VLF1. For VLF2,
however, the model considers loading and primary and secondary leaching separately from each other
before calculating total drainage and adsorption rates. Inputs in this section are therefore the same as
those for the "Arequa VLF1 Inputs", except for the following differences:
• Separate inputs are provided for the primary and secondary leach application rates.
• Separate inputs are provided for the primary and secondary leach flow rates.
• Separate inputs are provided for the primary loaded height above the liner and secondary
leached height above the liner.
Other Inputs:
• ECOSA Area (fiz)— Input for the area of the ECOSA that would result in runoff for each month of
the simulation
• SGOSA Area (ft2)— Input for the area of the SGOSA that would result in runoff for each month of
the simulation
• WHEX PitArea(ftz)—Input for the area of the WHEX Pit that would result in runoff for each month
of the simulation
6
