E-2
end of life-of-mine. Thus, areas of(prior)mining disturbance will be at varying stages of revegetation
growth(due to the sequential annual aspect),but all areas will be subject to a five-year monitoring and
maintenance period. Upon cessation of mining activities, the terminal pit will be reclaimed; and, all
structures and other appurtenant facilities will be concurrently demolished and/or removed from the
site and the respective affected areas reclaimed in a manner consistent with the Reclamation Plan.
No ponds or impounding features are anticipated to remain post-closure within those areas that were
subject to mining. The remnant (wide-area) mine pit depressions, however, will serve as natural
infiltration features, thereby eliminating the potential for adverse erosional effect(s) normally
anticipated with more natural run-on and/or run-off conditions. Side-slopes associated with pit
perimeters and/or encountered utility (and other) easements will be established at a minimum 3H:1 V
(and in some instances,as much as 5H:IV)to ensure long-term stability(as slopes will be at or greater
than natural angle of repose for the sand matrix) and to facilitate ease of accessibility throughout the
area by livestock, consistent with the prescribed post-mining land use designation of rangeland. To the
extent present, existing ranch access and/or oil and gas service roads will be either maintained in, or
restored to, their approximate original configuration(s). In general, mine planning has strived to
minimize impacts on existing features, instead employing "avoidance" as a key mine planning
parameter.
(a) Reclamation Measures for Other Features
There will be no waste rock dumps nor any underground mine openings associated with the Keenesburg
No. 2 Mine Project, as the Project will employ open-cut mining only.
Pit perimeter diversions, to the extent present (as safety berms), will be removed as a component of
crest reduction when establishing the minimum 3H:1 V slope gradient conditions along pit perimeter
and/or utility(and other) easements. To the extent(internal)minor seepage routing or other diversion
features are present, such features will be removed in conjunction with concurrent reclamation efforts.
Post-mining topography will ostensibly reflect that of the pre-mining topography, except all mined-out
areas will be "lowered" (typically,by as much as 30 ft.) across the pit area(s), generally reflective of
the varying vertical extent of sand resource extracted. As such, the end-result will be the re-
establishment of the predominant natural drainage direction across the "affected area", within the
confines of the post-mining pit depressions.
Keenesburg No. 2 Mine_112 Reclamation Operation—November 22, 2019
