,.I
NEWMONT
GOLDCORP
covered through the duration of storage until it was used in construction. The CQA
Monitor inspected the geomembrane prior to it being used for construction in 2016.
6. Section 3.4.2— 80 Mil Liner. The QC reports from Agru do not have a signature or date.
Please address this discrepancy.
The signed and dated QC certifications for all 80mil geomembrane are included in
Attachment 2.
7. Section 3.4.5— Non-Woven Geotextile: Please address the following discrepancies:
a. 12 oz Geotextile Appendix J 6, page 5, Roll#303741174, Lot Number 27218-03,
has a Puncture value for ASTM D4833 18 Ibs, the standard is 130 lbs.
This QC certification for the geotextile roll is more than likely an error. A
letter from the manufacturer regarding this puncture value is included in
Attachment 3.
b. Appendix J 6, Pages 11-14, this geotextile does not have any testing results
following ASTM D4833 for Puncture.
ASTM has recently recommended within the ASTM standard D4833 itself,
that geotextile be tested using the CBR puncture strength test, D6241.
Additionally, CDOT specifies non-woven geotextile using AASHTO M-288-
17 for Class 3 geotextiles be tested under ASTM D6241.
A correlation between the tests has been developed'. Based on the
correlation, the following table presents the estimated puncture values:
Roll CBR Puncture Puncture Value
Number Value (ASTM (ASTM D4833),
136241), Ibs Ibs
030670741 1561 296
030670754 1165 221
030670759 1165 221
030670765 1019 193
The geotextile exceeds the required puncture value (ASTM D4833) of 130
Ibs, per the technical specifications.
8. Section 3.4.6— Geoprid:Appendix J.7, the QC testing is a bit confusing in that it appears
that multiple rolls from a production lot number were delivered to the site multiple times.
This has resulted in the same QC test being reprinted multiple times throughout the
appendix. QC testing dates range from 2013 through 2016. There are 1,104 rolls of
' Wisconsin DOT (2017).
