EXHIBIT L WORST CASE RECLAMATION SCENARIO
1. Reclamation Tasks and Costs
The worst case reclamation scenario at the Birdseye Pit will be when the largest area of
disturbance needs to be topsoiled and revegetated. This is anticipated to be at the end of mining
and to be an area no greater than 15 acres. No dewatering or backfilling and grading will be
needed, as mining will proceed to the final reclaimed slopes of 3H:IV. Mining operations will
move through the site and will stay only in the active area. A truck scale and office trailer will be
located near the entrance and will need to be removed. A detailed breakdown of reclamation
tasks can be seen below.
1.1 Reclamation Tasks and Costs
The revegetation of upland slopes and other disturbance areas will be the principal driver of
costs.
• Remove truck scale = $3,000.
• Topsoiling of 15 acres of disturbance at the end of mining. 15 acres at 12 inches thick
(24,200 CY) at$1.50/CY= $36,300. Placed using a loader and haul truck; then spread
around via a dozer. Maximum dozer push of 100 feet.
• Rangeland seeding and mulching of the disturbed areas, including a 50%reseed rate. 15
acres at $1400/acre= $21,000. Drill seeding is assumed.
• Construction of slope armoring in on final slope in Pit 4. Riprap with a D50=4 inches,
producible onsite. 1000 ft x 80 ft of slope x 12 inch thick. 2,962 CY at $5/CY= $14,810.
Birdseye Pit Gmg lx%icki and ksuwiatm P1 1A
June 2019 L-1
